I haven't written a real entry in three weeks, so expect this one to be long. A lot has happened.

Final shows I saw for the Fringe:
* Saturday 27 Aug: Mickey D, real name Michael Dwyer at Gilded Balloon Teviot (intimate, he bought us all beer)
* Sunday 28 Aug: David Crowe at the Tron (very funny, another Seattle comedian)
* Thursday 01 Sep: La Clique at Spiegeltent (mind-blowingly good - best disappearing hanky act ever)

Jess came back on Sunday, got sick during David Crowe. Couldn't keep anything down for 24 hours. I called in sick and looked after her for Monday. By Wednesday she was off to the Isle of Skye. (To see Mrs. McCloud ... hahaha)

Sunday 4 Sep did teardown for Spiegeltent, then staff party at night. Snuck Jess in, free drinks, food and live DJ. Heaps of fun. We also managed to score free tickets to the end of festival fireworks in Princes St Gardens, hands down the best fireworks I've seen yet (even better than Riverfire!). They were set off to a live symphony orchestra playing Beethoven's 7th symphony. Highlight was the fireworks waterfall over the side of the castle, has to be seen to be believed. I should be able to get some photos off Jason and Paul. Back to the staff party afterward. A lot of people who had regular gigs at Spiegeltent turned up - Jimeoin, red hanky lady, hula hoop girl etc.

Jess took off for Tuesday to Stirling, back by Tues night. Wed I skived off work (love that word!) so I could spend the day hanging out with Jess on her last day in Edinburgh. Dinner at the Old Chain Pier. Thurs morn saw her off, she's back in College now.

Bought my flights to New York, I'm all set to ship out in the 3rd week of Nov. (Thanksgiving!) It's only for a week, but after some hassle got a flexible date ticket so I can stay longer if the opportunity presents itself.

Sent my camera away to be fixed, stupid camera shop wanted to charge me £30 to send it away on warranty.

Fri/Sat/Sun just gone: Getting on well with my flatmate, he has the Godfather boxed set so watched that, and The Office 2nd series. Played Super Mario Sunshine on his GameCube (Hooked ...). Watched the 40 Yr Old Virgin (recommended!!) and went indoor rock climbing all Sunday afternoon, followed by drinks at our new favourite pub, Old Chain Pier up at Trinity (near Leith).

I'd really like to get my own harness and boots and go indoor rock climbing more often (But need to save for NY desperately too ...).

New Pub Friday website is slowly coming together. I told Paris that even with a New Pub Friday, Sunday, and Wednesday, we would still have enough pubs to last us through till June next year easy. I've got several suggestions (Canny Mans, The Basement, Kings Arms, The Foot of the Walk) but it could be a while before they all get visited.

On top of that I'm seriously considering giving up booze for good. It would be extremely difficult considering my current friends but at the very least I plan on really cutting down. I've had a cold since Monday, that's the third or fourth this year and the 2nd time in a month (read this entry). I've started taking some supplements that apparently help the liver (Milk Thistle, NAC, and Rosemary).

Finally, Skype works like a champ on my PDA. My username is plowna, and if you ever feel like having a chat, feel free to give me a call whenever I'm online online (usually between 5pm and 12am GMT-0).

Whew! Updated.

- Steve

Awww thanks. Though you could always help by shrinking those MASH episodes to SVCD and sending them on over =) =)

Have a look at the difference in price for season 1: UK HMV and Aus HMV. (£30 is roughly equal to $70 AUD)

Hey, you never said you had to SNEAK me into Spiegeltent! Not for the beginning at least when we were like the 6th people there, anyway. Wonder if I still would have gone if I'd known? Am I still stuck inside those morals? Hmm...
