I'm home!!

Granted this entry might be a few days late (I arrived into Brisbane early Monday morning and Mackay Monday afternoon) but I'll quickly recap our day in Hong Kong and the subsequent flights.

  • Imran helped us out with a plan of attack for our only day in Hong Kong. We managed to see the giant bronze Buddha statue, went up Victoria peak on the Peak Tram, and went for a wee ride on the double decker trams on Hong Kong Island. We also hopped on the ferry back to Kowloon across the harbour.

  • Last in the days events was getting a new mobile phone. Imran pointed us in the direction of a friend who did us an awesome deal on a Nokia 5200. We paid about $215 AUD for it, brand new. While we were waiting on the warranty card, some brand new Samsung phones came in - the ones that retail for about $600 AUD - and he quoted us the same price as the Nokia for it. Doh! Nokia phone is still awesome, though.

  • We were knackered so we went back to Imran's place and got ready for the flights in the morning.

  • In the morning Imran cooked us some breakfast, traditional Pakistani food, which was superb and a wonderful bonus. Can't say enough good things about Imran.

  • We got a bus to the airport from outside Imran's place. Cost us $14 HKD each - the airport express train is $90 HKD each! Another tip from Imran.

  • Flight to Singapore was non-eventful. Watched Stranger Than Fiction. Interesting movie.

  • In Singapore, we had to be stamped into the country so we could collect our bags. Then Paul and I changed into our kilts and checked in to our flight and got stamped back out of Singapore/Malaysia.

  • The flight itself was again non-eventful. I didn't get much sleep, neither did Paul.

As it turns out, we arrived on the hottest day of Summer (despite Summer being "officially" over for 12 days). Mackay Airport listed the temperature as 43 C, with about 80% humidity.

Jess and I have been enjoying the beach lifestyle at my Dad's place, and I've been looking for/applying for jobs. Just getting back to reality, you know. And catching up with old and new friends =)

I'm sorry I've been slack in writing comments and whatnot, but it's good to hear you're home. *much hugs*

NO YOU CANNOT BE HIS FRIEND NOW.

The day you arrived ... did it end up being the cold snap the day after that or something similar? Because ouch, that's warm even for up there.

(OKAY MAYBE YOU COULD BRIBE HIM WITH SUSHI TRAINS.)

It was about the same as Brisbane. No cold snap, but it did storm a few nights in a row. Lot cooler now.

Cheers Loz.

Don't worry about the comments - most of my entries are difficult to comment on anyway. (After "Wow, sounds amazing" and "I'm jealous" there's just nodding and I haven't figured out a way of doing it with text just yet)

Thanks Megan =) Its good to be back. And have a beach to ourselves (almost ... couple of early morning walkers out again this morning!). I've been training Jess rigorously in the art of combating sunburn. Unfortunately she hasn't got contacts or prescription sunnies yet, so can't protect her eyes particularly well.

Yay you guys are back, and short of coming to Mackay I'm not liking my chances of catching you guys anytime soon.

Maybe a weekend roadtrip or something will have to find a way onto the cards :)

Jess and I have been invited to my cousin's wedding in Brisbane next month. If nothing concrete (ie job) turns up by then we'll be taking a one-way trip to Brisbane. Either way, we'll be around =)

Excellent, I'm thinking the number I have for you is probably wrong, so closer to the date we'll exchange numbers somehow and we can work out where to catch up when you guys are down here if you have some time.

It's Kat! Do you realise that this time last year we were planning our road trip? When are you guys gonna come visit us in Sydney for a reunion?

God it feels like it was 10 years ago, not just last year =)

I don't know ... soon? I'll talk to Jess, we'll have to take a couple days out and come down to visit. No road trips though until after we get married!
