You were such a PYT

Righto so now we're moving out of this great place that we're in. Reason? The landlady has decided to increase the rent for no reason at all, and I simply won't be party to random increases of rent. I'm not happy with the way the lease is run in general - it all seems very informal. Jess and I have zero say in how these things are run (and quite frankly, if any landlady rang me up to let us know that the rent would increase "as of next week" I would burst into laughter and hang up. Then move out) and any queries about it are met with vague responses and "oh well".

We've scoped out a new place; its unfurnished but I'll be borrowing a bed from a co-worker when we move in, until I can get my bed back from Brisbane (driving down there next Saturday).

Seeing as how our agreement is even more informal, I have no problems in breaking it. The only snag is our broadband connection - the new place already has broadband, so I guess for now we'll just keep paying for ours until we can get our own place/phone line.

In other news I've completed another induction (after two days ...) and on Monday I'll be doing another site induction. And again next Wednesday. Fun fun.

Thanks to everyone who has sent us congratulations, be it comments on our entries, cards, letters or emails. Our ceremony was short and simple, attended by a few family and close friends. I got the unfortunate news from Paul that he was talked out of buying us a Nintendo Wii as a wedding present!! I'd just like to say to those that are considering this in future: DON'T LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER!! If we had one I have a feeling Jess would get more play out of it than I would at this stage anyway :/

Jess is still waiting on a response from the Immigration Dept. Its been four weeks and they said it should only take three, so they are "looking into it". No idea if its been mailed out yet either. Jess took a quick look at some stuff required for the spouse visa ... minimum 2 months on an FBI check!! Why didn't we check that one out earlier?

Righto, I'm off to break the news gently to our current flatmates ...

Congratulations on getting married, I've been catching up on your entries lately, if you don't mind me asking what is Jess' declared nationality?

I saw the glamour shots and you guys look wonderful.

Thanks!! Jess is a 100% red-blooded American girl (her words). She's from the Buffalo area.

Hoi, I should ring you, but until I'm at a phone ... I'm more than willing to contribute to the Wii fund as a marriage present. That, or a set of cast iron pan / good knife / wooden board. Yay kitchen utensils that don't suck. :P
