Handy software for ringtones/videotones:

  • FLV Extract. For when they post their fresh new video clip to YouTube/wherever but you can't find the mp3 anywhere.

  • UnPlug for when VideoDownloader doesn't work. That is, to download said videos.

  • SUPER, a freeware program to help you convert those .flv files to .3gp (mobile phone video).

  • And of course, Audacity, to edit those huge mp3's down to size so you don't have a 3m30s song as a ringtone. (Message tones shouldn't be longer than 5-6 seconds, ringtones max 30 seconds)

  • And a bonus: GOM Player. Slicker than VLC, it can take screenshots of stuff you're watching. If you want some new LJ userpics.

All completely free.

Tax return came in, we did a wee bit of shopping and saved the rest for when Jess has to get her medical examination done and we present the application in Brisbane.

Bought a dinner set, and I finally got a decent waiter's friend again (after losing my good pulltaps in in August last year ... we won't talk about it). Also got a wireless card, so now I don't have to steal Jess's all the time.

Work is going well, I'm almost at the point where I am looking again for some sort of project to fill my spare time.

We'll see.

In some strange creepy way I go from talking with people down here about how I need a new ringtone but don't know how to dub 'slices' out of tracks.... to you making this post :)

I'll have to have a play with Audacity at some point, as much as I love Zim, I've had the theme as a ringtone for a very long time now.

You are a big geek.

But I still love you.
