That'll do

Its been over a month since I last posted, which usually means I just didn't have anything I particularly wanted to post.

Christmas was busy, New Years was quiet. Paul came up to visit, which was great. We both got hooked on Bioshock. Jess and I both worked right through Christmas. I only took the public holidays off. I bought a new tv as it was on special. Paris and Bev sent us a parcel from Edinburgh, it was awesome. Still yet to tuck in to the highland cream.

I upgraded to Linux Mint 6 Felicia, and set it up on Jess's old laptop (our mediaserver). It took me a while to get it set up, but I set it up with fuppes. I ended up having to plug the laptop/hdd into the wireless router in order to get the bandwidth necessary for streaming/transcoding of all the TV shows we have kicking around.

I've managed to begin the Neal Stephenson book Jess gave me for my 30th birthday last year.

The last couple of years I've posted a bunch of questions and my answers for them. I'm not really interested in doing that this year.

The first half of 2008 I will rememeber as the six months we spent saving money and planning our trip to the US. All of June - spectacular as we got married again. August for moving into our current (awesome) digs and I think I managed to explain Christmas and New Years in a sentence above.

This year will be interesting. I hope to get my other credit card 100% paid off. Currently paying off Jess's laptop and our couch/tv. Nearly paid off the couch. Hopefully I won't get a tax bill again this year. Haven't done much exercise in a while, this is mostly due to laziness on my part. I've become very comfortable in my life at the moment, which is bad for motivation.

With the exception of a couple of single weeks here or there, I've spent about the last three or four months "out west" or basically away from home. Usually at least two nights, but frequently three nights. I know I'm getting two weeks off from it now, but my training on production machines has been brought forward to February, so that will be three whole weeks away from home.

This gets frustrating, but in the long run it means I won't have to be away from Jess too often (like last year).

I think of all the things I've resolved to do, the general theme of it would be to "get out more".

Sigh ...

Total whoops moment. I have a habit of folding beer caps in half and dropping them back into the empty bottle.

Except this time the bottle wasn't empty. The look on my face was priceless, apparently, when it went "sploosh" instead of "clink".

Happy pre-Australia Day =) And happy inauguration day!
