Never buy from Maxtor. Ever.

I decided to actually send it (my stuffed hd) away; they stipulate that I have to use a courier service, not the postal service, to send it to them.

Its going to cost me $72.80.

Thank, you Maxtor. Now I know never to buy or recommend your products ever again.

If I could have gotten a full refund, I would have taken it.

maxtor is crap.
seagate is crap.
quantum is really, really, really bad crap.
western digital is reliable, that is to say they die a month after the warranty expires, without warning.

connor is hard to find, but is quite decent.

i have never had an IBM drive go bad. Never. My NAT was built in 1991, its harddisk is the original, and is ESDI (one step up from MFM, it cannot spin down). it still runs reliably and rarely gives me a problem. boy its loud, though. had to stick the sucker in the garage so it wouldn't keep everybody up nights.

At the time, I was going to go for an IBM Desktar 75XP or something. (75Gb) I didn't, because it was more expensive and I asked around, did a bit of research and came to the conclusion that Maxtor would be alright.

Blah. Never again.
